Description and style
El Bandarra Al Fresco is the most innovative and distinctive expression in the range: an aperitif the makers themselves define plainly as not a vermouth, not a gin and tonic, but something different. It was created for a new way of drinking aperitifs in Spain, with a profile that is lighter, more refreshing and less sweet.
Made by macerating Garnacha rosé wine with grapefruit peel, botanicals, citrus and fresh herbs, it places grapefruit at the centre of both aroma and taste. That bold, electric profile is what sets it apart from El Bandarra Rojo and Rosé. It contains less sugar than the rest of the range, making it especially easy to enjoy in warm weather. 🍊
In the glass, it shows an electric cherry-red colour with violet reflections, clean and bright, with a lively, medium-high coat. On the nose it is intense, with notes of red liquorice, fresh herbs and menthol over a backdrop of bitter grapefruit, rose petals and tropical citrus. On the palate, it opens smooth, dense and long, with a fresh, fruity finish where bitter grapefruit and red liquorice stand out.
The perfect serve is with tonic — two parts tonic to one part Al Fresco — plenty of ice, and a slice of lemon or grapefruit. It also works beautifully served very cold on its own. 🥂
