Description and style
Padró & Co. Rojo Amargo is, without question, the boldest and most technically demanding expression in the Padró family: the most intense vermouth in the range and one of the most acclaimed in the Catalan and international vermouth scene.
Its production is truly distinctive. It begins with a first infusion made exclusively from high-mountain plants —small roots and highly aromatic flowers— which macerate and rest for two years in chestnut casks. After this 24-month aging, a second formula of botanicals is added: a blend of barks and roots that bring structure and a deep bitter profile, bringing the total to more than 70 botanicals.
On the nose, it opens with ripe orange peel, cinnamon, balsamic clove notes and dried fruit such as apricot raisin. On the palate it is velvety and full-bodied, with a long, complex bitterness that recalls tobacco, cinchona and honey caramel. 🍷
This is a vermouth designed both to be enjoyed on its own —well chilled in a glass— and to elevate high-end cocktails. It pairs especially well with blue cheeses, smoked fish and dark chocolate with salt. Awarded 92 points in the Peñín Guide and the Vinari de Plata 2022, alongside multiple international awards.
