Description and style
Padró & Co. Rojo Clásico is the premium take on the classic aperitif vermouth: the taste of the Mediterranean tradition once sold in bulk in the cellars of Camp de Tarragona, now refined with the extra depth and elegance that only wood ageing can bring. 🥂
Crafted by the Padró family in Bràfim since 1886, now in its fifth generation, this vermouth starts with an estate-grown macabeo and xarel·lo base wine. Its botanical recipe — cinnamon, clove, orange peel, oregano, cardamom and artemisia, among others — macerates and rests for 9 to 12 months in sherry casks, historic barrels adapted specifically for vermouth ageing.
On the nose, it is highly expressive, with sweet spice aromas led by cinnamon and clove, plus a background of dried fruit. On the palate, it is creamy and fresh, finishing with a gentle bitterness and clear notes of Mediterranean herbs that recall the vermouths of old cellars.
Best enjoyed neat with ice and an orange slice, or as an aperitif with olives and anchovies. Awarded Gold at the Vinari Awards 2021 in the Red Vermouth category, and a Gold Bacchus at the Madrid international awards. 🍊
