Vermut Cisa ECOfriendly is the house’s most modern expression and the release that helped refresh Cisa’s image for a new generation of vermouth drinkers. It was the brand’s first organic vermouth, and its launch was an immediate success: in 2019 it won the Premi Gran Vinari d’Or for Best Red Vermouth at the Premis Vinari dels Vermuts Catalans, one of the most respected distinctions in the sector. 🍷
What sets ECOfriendly apart from Cisa’s classic Red Vermouth begins with the base grape. Instead of the white wines from Penedès used in the Red, this edition is made from Picapoll negre vinified as a white wine, giving it a distinctive profile with its own identity. All ingredients — base wines, sugars and alcohols — are certified organic and controlled by the relevant organic certification bodies.
Its botanical profile also takes a different path: rather than the centenary formula of Mediterranean herbs, ECOfriendly is built on the maceration of citrus fruits, sweet spices and aromatic plants, most of them sourced from the family estate. Orange and grapefruit bring freshness; clove and cardamom add warmth and depth. On the nose, it shows zesty citrus, Mediterranean herbs, bitter notes, cinnamon and liquorice, with a flavour that is savory, refreshing and beautifully balanced. On the palate, the citrus and spice character remains clear, with cardamom and clove adding extra complexity and elegance 🙂
