Description and style
Myrrha Red Reserva Vermouth is the most refined and complex expression in the Myrrha range: the top tier of the traditional Padró i Família line, and the natural bridge between the classic Myrrha vermouths and the premium Padró & Co. range. Its production introduces two key differences versus the standard Myrrha Red: it is sweetened with house-made mistela instead of sugar, bringing greater roundness and depth, and it spends 12 months in sherry casks, gaining toasted aromas, nutty notes and spiced, balsamic nuances.
The base wine is made from Macabeo and Xarel·lo grown in the winery’s own vineyards, while the botanicals are mainly alpine herbs, highly aromatic and responsible for its unmistakable herbal character. The result is a vermouth with a caramel-amber hue and subtle brick reflections.
On the nose, it is richly layered: balsamic and aniseed notes, mountain herbs, vanilla and clove from the wood ageing, a background of caramel and dried fruit, and that final layer of toasted nuts from the sherry casks. On the palate, it is silky, elegant and full-bodied, with a gentle sweetness from the mistela and a delicate but present bitterness that adds depth. The winery describes it as a vermouth where “sweet bitterness becomes silky and delicate”. 🍷
It is one of the bitterest vermouths in the Padró i Família range, alongside Rojo Amargo and Dorado Amargo Suave. Best served well chilled, without ice, to appreciate all its complexity, or with an orange twist to lift the citrus edge and the bitterness. 🍊
