Description and style
Yzaguirre Classic Red is the everyday vermouth of the most historic house in Camp de Tarragona: Bodegas Yzaguirre, founded in 1884 in El Morell by Enrique de Yzaguirre, a pioneer in exporting Spanish vermouth to the North American market.
Since then, the winery has carefully guarded its secret formula —known only to three people— blending around 80 Mediterranean herbs, spices and botanicals: wormwood, citrus peel, cinnamon, clove, vanilla, oregano, hop, coriander and many more. The result is a mahogany-red vermouth, aromatic and velvety, with notes of herbs, spices and ripe fruit.
On the palate it is balanced, with well-integrated acidity and a clean finish that invites another sip. It is made using the traditional method of the old Italian Alpine producers, adapted to the Mediterranean character of Tarragona. With 15% alcohol, it is the most accessible and versatile vermouth in the range: ideal as a daily aperitif, served simply with ice and orange, or as a base for classic cocktails 🍸
The winery suggests pairing it with a few drops of Campari, ice cubes, an orange slice, an orange twist and a mint leaf. It also pairs beautifully with meat or game stews, seafood paella and pastries. Versatile, Mediterranean and full of heritage in every glass.
