Description and style
Yzaguirre Herbal Vintage, together with Selección 1884, is the most distinctive and technically refined expression in the range: a vermouth that revives the original late-19th-century formula and is crafted through the house’s unique solera-style ageing system.
It all begins with a botanical extract cooked in a 1884 copper boiler at controlled temperature, followed by a three-month maceration in hydroalcoholic solution. The extract is then filtered and aged for six months in wooden casks, creating a base with remarkable character. This base is blended with white wine, sugar and alcohol to start the solera process, where different vintages rest in oak barrels and botas as time slowly merges and matures every element until the desired vintage is achieved, with a minimum of five years of ageing in the final foudre of the line.
Its centenary recipe includes Mediterranean orange blossom, Cretan dittany, angelica, gentian, Florentine iris, cinnamon, wormwood and sandalwood. In the glass, it shows a dark amber hue with a brilliant shine, while the nose reveals a sweet, spiced aroma built around aromatic herbs and an enveloping citrus touch.
On the palate it is harmonious and persistent, with quinine-like nuances and a perfectly balanced warmth. The finish is long and elegant, confirming its premium quality.
