Description and style
Yzaguirre Rojo Reserva is one of Spain’s most renowned and widely enjoyed vermouths in the premium red vermouth category. It also marked a turning point for Bodegas Yzaguirre, helping establish the brand as a pioneer in the premiumization of Spanish vermouth: it was the first house to launch a reserve vermouth aged in oak barrels, setting a quality benchmark the sector would later follow.
It is crafted from a base of Macabeo white wine, selected for its neutral profile and its suitability for maceration with botanicals, to which the secret formula of nearly 80 herbs and spices is added. The blend then rests for 12 months in oak casks, gaining structure, roundness and its signature velvety texture.
Deep mahogany red in the glass, it opens with a highly aromatic nose of wood, coffee, herbs and spices, woven together with hints of ripe fruit. On the palate it is smooth and pleasant, with well-integrated acidity, balanced sweetness and a long, savory finish marked by spices and wood. With 18% alcohol—compared with 15% for the Clásico—its higher strength brings greater body and amplifies every botanical note. 🍷
Distributed in more than 40 countries, it is the house’s international ambassador. The winery recommends it as an aperitif or an afternoon serve, with ice, orange, Campari and mint. 🥂
