Description and style
Yzaguirre Selección 1884 is the jewel in the crown of Bodegas Yzaguirre: the house’s most premium vermouth, most aged expression and most complex of all, as well as one of the great references in Spanish vermouth in the gran reserva category. Its name pays tribute to the winery’s founding year, and its production reflects the brand’s highest enological ambition. 🍷
The process begins with more than 80 herbs, flowers and roots macerated for around two months in a hydroalcoholic solution to extract the full potential of each botanical. The resulting essence is then kept for two years in small barrels of old oak — a key factor in the product’s identity — an ageing process that stabilises the aroma, enhances the natural colour and develops a level of complexity unmatched in the range.
Bottling takes place every three years, with a production of only around 6,000 bottles. At — the highest strength in the range — it pours a deep mahogany colour with bright orange-brown tones, clear signs of barrel maturation.
