Description and style
Zarro Red —now marketed as Vermouth for Two— is the founding reference of Bodegas Sanviver and the vermouth that gave rise to the Zarro legend as Madrid vermouth. Its story begins in Castro Urdiales, Cantabria, where the family patriarch made a homemade vermouth for private use, based on a master formula carefully preserved over time.
After moving to Fuenlabrada, Madrid, the family established a 4,000 m² facility where they now produce around 5 million liters a year. Today, Bodegas Sanviver is the only vermouth producer in the Community of Madrid and exports to more than 30 countries. 🍷
Zarro Red starts with a fortified white wine to which botanicals are added and left to macerate for 30 days until reaching 15% vol. Every stage —from maceration to bottling— takes place in Fuenlabrada, following artisan methods and manual processes that give the vermouth its distinctive aroma and flavor. Some botanicals are infused, while others macerate longer, allowing each plant to contribute the right touch of scent and taste.
Visually, it shows an ocher hue with orange tones. On the nose, it offers intense herbal aromas.
On the palate, it is full-bodied, expansive and bursting with flavor, with a long, persistent finish. The benchmark vermouth on tap in Madrid, equally perfect at the bar of a traditional tavern or at home.
